How it works

Working with Tax & Business Solutions starts with a call to (281) 785-0460 or the online form. In a first meeting with Blaga Veleva, EA, you explain what you need, and you agree on the scope of the work and the price. You sign an engagement letter, and the work starts. That usually takes two to three days. For IRS matters you also sign Form 2848.

What happens on the free consultation?

You describe the problem, and Blaga tells you what she sees and which options fit. Nobody expects you to know the tax terms. "Help with an IRS letter" or "I am three years behind on my books" is enough to start.

Blaga suggests thinking through three questions before you call. How many sources of income do you have? What problems has the business run into? Which services do you think you need?

If it is an IRS letter, have it in front of you. The notice number sits near the top of the first page, and the IRS letter decoder shows what most of them mean before you call. For a return, a rough list of what changed this year helps. For a business, know which months of books are missing.

The consultation is there so you can decide with real information. You leave knowing which route makes sense, such as a payment plan, a prepared return or a catch-up on the books.

What should you bring for your type of case?

Bring what you already have. Missing papers are normal, and part of the work is finding them.

  • An IRS letter: every page of every letter, plus the envelopes. The dates matter more than the amounts.
  • A tax return: last year's return, Forms W-2, any 1099s (including 1099-K and 1099-NEC), mortgage interest statements, and a record of estimated payments you made.
  • Business books: bank and credit card statements for the period, payroll reports, prior business returns, and QuickBooks access if you use it.
  • Years with no return filed: whatever records you still have. Income the IRS knows about can be pulled from your IRS wage and income transcript.
  • Estates and trusts: the trust document or will, and statements for the accounts the estate or trust holds.

How does Blaga set the price?

With a standard pricing system, agreed with you in the first meeting before any work starts. In Blaga's words, "We work well with any budget, and our fees are negotiable."

  • Bookkeeping: the price depends on the type of entity (sole proprietor, partnership, corporation and so on), the number of transactions, how complex the accounting is, and what you are able to pay.
  • Tax preparation: the price is based on the forms being prepared.
  • More than one service: clients who use several services, such as bookkeeping and tax preparation, get a bundle price.

This site does not publish numbers, because the price depends on those factors. Once you agree, the scope and the price go into a signed engagement letter.

Keep the firm's fee separate from what the IRS charges. Some IRS programs carry their own fees that you pay to the IRS directly. The IRS says an offer in compromise application requires a $205 application fee unless you meet the low-income rules, per the IRS offer in compromise page. Payment plans have IRS setup fees that depend on the plan type and how you apply, listed on the IRS payment plans page.

Be careful with any company that quotes a big fee and promises a settlement before it has seen your account. The IRS put aggressive offer in compromise marketing on its 2026 Dirty Dozen scam list. See how to tell a real IRS letter from a scam.

How can you pay?

The firm takes Apple Pay, cash, credit card, Venmo and Zelle. Payments to the IRS itself, such as a balance due or a payment plan installment, go to the IRS directly, never through a preparer. The IRS lists its own payment options on its payment plans page.

Who will you work with?

Blaga Veleva, EA handles the tax and IRS side herself. Enrolled agent status is, in the IRS's words, "the highest credential the IRS awards," per the IRS enrolled agent page. She has led Tax & Business Solutions for more than 17 years.

Lachezar Velev keeps the books and does catch-up bookkeeping. Joy Velev works with clients on trusts, estates and international tax questions. You can read about all three on the about page.

How are your papers kept private?

The firm has a secure client portal for sending documents, which is a safer route than ordinary email. The portal link is on the contact page.

For IRS work, the authorization is formal. The IRS says to "use Form 2848 to authorize an individual to represent you before the IRS," per the Form 2848 page. If you have an IRS Online Account, you can also approve and electronically sign a power of attorney from your tax professional there, according to the IRS Online Account page.

Do you have to come to the office?

No. You can work by phone and the secure portal from anywhere in greater Houston. If you would rather sit down in person, call first: meetings at the office on FM 1960 West, Suite 221, are set by phone. The office is in the Champions and FM 1960 area of northwest Houston.
